A Big Difference
That takes about a minute

          Attaching the Base Plate
The Steady Clip is easily installed on the top (door) of the lobster trap. First the Base Plate is snapped onto the door of the trap near the bridled end of the trap, between the end of the trap and the first bridge. The pivot bar of the Base Plate should be towards the bridled end of the trap.

Inserting the bungee cord and hammer
Insert the bungee cord loops, which are attached to the Hammer, through the square hole in the Base Plate. Insert so that the Hammer pivots against the cross bar of the Base Plate.

          Affixing the bungee cord
Open the trap door, exposing the underside of the door and the protruding bungee cord loops. The Hammer is secured in place by attaching the loops of the bungee cord to the wire on the trap door by using 3/4" stainless steel hog rings. For traps with 1.5" wire, the loops for the bungee cord are secured three meshes back from the Base Plate installation location, straddling one mesh. If there is a vent in the way of securing the bungee cords, place the Base Plate close to the bridled end of the trap, rather than in the middle of the trap.
It is important to note: this bungee cord attachment method has a lot of power and is intended for self setting of trawls. For hand setting of traps, less power is required for setting, so attaching the bungee cord loops two meshes back and stradling two meshes can be used. This gives the bungee cord less stretch and therefore less power.

Secure the Base Plate to the trap
The Base Plate is now secured to the trap with two 3/4" stainless steel hog rings (provided with every order).

          Installation is now complete
The Steady Clip is now appropriately installed on the trap and ready to use. The warp is secured in the Steady Clip by simply placing the warp in front of the Steady Clip and then pulling back to slide the warp under the Hammer and into place. There is no need to lift the Hammer part of the Steady Clip with your hands to engage the warp.
